Function Description

The “Auto Restart” function of a DC fan allows the fan to automatically resume operation after a power interruption or when certain abnormal conditions are resolved. Working Principle

When a power failure occurs, the fan stops rotating. The auto restart circuitry inside the fan detects the power loss and continuously monitors the power status. Once the power is restored, the circuitry transmits a signal to the fan’s motor to initiate its operation again. In some cases, if the fan encounters problems like overheating or abnormal load that cause it to stop, the auto restart function may also be activated. The fan will attempt to restart after a certain period or when the conditions return to normal, depending on the specific design of the fan.

Working Principle

There is a built – in FG circuit inside the DC fan. As the fan rotates, the FG circuit uses a sensor, like a Hall – effect sensor, to detect the movement of the fan blades. For every full rotation of the fan blades, the FG circuit generates a fixed number of electrical pulses. The frequency of these pulses is directly related to the fan’s rotational speed. A higher rotational speed leads to a higher frequency of the output signal, and a lower rotational speed results in a lower frequency. The generated frequency signal can be easily measured and processed by external control systems or monitoring devices.

A Hall – effect sensor works by detecting the magnetic field variations generated by the rotation of the fan’s rotor. As the rotor spins, the magnetic field lines passing through the sensor change, prompting the sensor to generate corresponding electrical signals. These signals are then processed by the fan’s control circuit to determine the fan’s rotation status. In the case of an optical sensor, it operates by detecting the interruption or reflection of light triggered by the rotation of the fan blades. The control circuit analyzes the received light signals to ascertain whether the fan is in rotation.

Rating Criteria

The IP rating is composed of two digits. The first digit indicates the level of protection against solid particle ingress, ranging from 0 (no protection) to 6 (complete protection against dust ingress). In the case of our IP54 fans, the “5” as the first digit means that the fans are effectively protected against the ingress of dust in quantities that could interfere with normal operation. The second digit represents the level of protection against liquid ingress, ranging from 0 (no protection) to 8 (protected against long – term immersion in water under specific conditions). The “4” in our IP54 rating shows that the fans can withstand water splashes from any direction, providing reliable protection in environments with occasional water splashing.

Function Description

The PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) function in DC fans is an advanced speed – control mechanism. It empowers users to regulate the rotational speed of the fan by altering the width of electrical pulses. Working Principle

The PWM function operates by sending a series of square – wave electrical pulses to the fan motor. The duty cycle of these pulses, which is the ratio of the time the pulse is at a high (on) level to the total time of one pulse cycle, determines the average voltage applied to the motor. When the duty cycle is increased, the average voltage supplied to the motor goes up, causing the fan to rotate faster. Conversely, when the duty cycle is decreased, the average voltage drops, and the fan rotates more slowly. By continuously adjusting the duty cycle of the PWM signal, the fan’s rotational speed can be precisely controlled within a wide range.
